Power Genetics Passport Program Health Verification requires an on-site audit by a PG Licensed Agent. Proof of vaccination purchases will be required.
Recommendations:
LEVEL 0 - No vaccinations given. Cattle do not meet any of the five health levels.
LEVEL
1
- RECOMMEND vaccinating cow herd with a 5-way virus vaccine (IBR &BVD Type 1 & 2 PI3 and BRSV) REQUIRED: at birth, grass turn-out or branding or pre-weaning, vaccinate calves with a dose of 7 way Clostridial vaccine. Haemophilus somnus optional. RECOMMEND: sensitizing dose of a 4 or 5 way modified live viral vaccine (5-way recommended).
LEVEL
2 - LEVEL 1 REQUIREMENTS PLUS REQUIRED pre-conditioning of calves prior to weaning (recommended at 2-8 weeks) with a 4 or 5 way viral vaccine (modified live 5-way recommended) and Pasteurella multocida and Mannheimia haemolytica and a 7 way Clostridial vaccine.
LEVEL
3
- Calves are weaned a minimum of 30-45 days with Level 1 or 2 vaccination requirements, but calves do not meet Level 4
booster requirements. (A 45 day wean is recommended.)
LEVEL 4
- LEVEL 1 or 2 REQUIREMENTS PLUS a booster with a 4 or 5 way virus vaccine (modified live 5 way suggested), recommended at 10-14 of the weaning phase. Recommended minimum 45 day wean. Feeding of Coccidiostat is highly recommended during weaning phase.
LEVEL
5 - LEVEL 1 or 2 VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS PLUS: A minimum 45 day wean with required modified live viral booster shot recommended on day 10-14 of the weaning phase. *De-worming is required at either pre or post weaning for Level 5 verification application. Calves must meet or exceed
minimum nutrient specifications for Power Genetics weaning
program. Power Genetics provides warranty on calves
guaranteeing no greater than 15% BRD morbidity for first 28 days
on feed.
